BackerKit closes in 1 Week

G’day all. As development on the 3 new Fragged books is nearing completion it is now time to close down BackerKit and get ready for PDF arrival and book printing.

PLEASE Ensure:

• Your pledge details (postage, etc…) in BackerKit are 100% correct.
• You have added all the add-ons (dice, minis, etc…) that you want to your pledge, as dice and minis may become hard to get in the future (the FE dice have been out of stock for almost 3 years).

Here is the current plan:

• Close BackerKit November the 28th.
• Send out PDFs a week later (just need to wait for people’s accounts to be charged).
• Send books to the printers by mid-December.
• Start to ship books out at the start of February.

Project Update!

Despite some delays (several members of my art and writing team have had health and family crisis issues), things are finally coming to a close with the 3 main books, which has freed me up to focus on the supplementary PDFs.

Fragged Empire; Hacked will include a wide range of optional rules and ideas for Fragged Empire, including; Outpost, Mass Combat, Tolatl & Half-Blood races, Drive Complications and more... This supplementary PDF will be where I place my WIP and optional rules, and where I bring in ideas that I have developed for other settings (ie: the Fagged Kingdom Holding Rules = Outposts). This PDF was a Kickstarter stretch goal, so you will all be getting it for free :) and it will also form the foundation of a future Fragged Empire book; the Exploration Archive.

Fragged Kingdom; Classic Races & Magic will include a wide range of classic fantasy RPG options for people who want to use the FK system but want a more main-stream fantasy setting. This supplementary PDF will primarily focus on races (Dwarves, Elves, Humans, Lizardfolk, etc...) and magic (mages, sorcerers, clerics, etc...).

Both of these PDFs are rules focused, with next to no setting fluff. As my RPG product range has now expanded into 4 settings, I hope to produce more supporting material (supplement PDFs like these, adventures, animated rule tutorial videos, and maybe even some pop-culture setting adaptions like: Fragged Wars, Fragged 40k, Fragged Cyber-Punk, etc...).

G'day everyone, sorry for the super late Update.

Book Progress

Working on 3 books all at once has been an ambitious but good experience. At times it feels like I'm a plate spinner at a circus, just trying to keep all the development parts spinning. Unfortunatly there have been lots of delays with getting the final images and writting completed. This is due to several members of my creative team having health and family crisis to deal with.

The plan is to have all 3 PDFs sent out to everyone in early/mid November. These PDFs will have 100% of their content, but some sections of text will not have gone through the full editing process (these PDFs will be labeled as Version 0.9). Once the books have gone through the final polish phase they will be sent off to the printers and everyones PDFs will be updated (these PDFs will be labeled Version 1.0).

Closing Down BackerKit

BackerKit will be closing down at the start of November. Please ensure you have pledged for everything that you want.

Fragged will be at PAX Aus in Melbourne this year, Oct 27 - 29. But as I wont be having a booth, I will be doing things a little differently.

• I and three other GMs will be running games for all 4 Fragged settings in the RPG play area. We will be running short 1 hour games in the afternoons, and I will be running 2-3 hour long games on Friday and Saturday nights.
• Books & Miniatures will be sold at the Aetherworks booth (they will have a huge booth, they will be easy to find).
• We will be demoing our upcoming skirmish game at the TGDA (Tabletop Game Developers Association) booth.
• I will be posting my scheduale and location up on my facebook and twitter feeds, for those who want to catch up with me.

I'm really looking forward to running some games of Fragged for people at PAX :D

Lahran & Fawkes Miniatures

Project Update

All 3 books are progressing well :D here is a look at what we've been working on.

I'm really proud of the above map. My goal was to not only show how the Drudic War drastically altered the continent of Catlan, but to also provide inspiration for GMs and PCs who might like to play a game set before the Druidic War.

Above is a time-lapse for 2 new close up maps that I made for Fragged Seas.

Here is how I made them:

• Step 1) Block out land shapes in Photoshop.
• Step 2) Autotrace base shapes in Illustrator.
• Step 3) Create icons, graphics and base colours in Illustrator.
• Step 4) Bring back into Photoshop and apply paper texture.

Help me with City Names

I would love to add more city names to each of my maps, if you have a great idea for a name please post it in the comments below.

• I need 29 capital/major city names for Fragged Kingdom. These can be inspired from Aztec (Tolatl), Greek/Roman (Legion), Shona (Remnant), Hebrew (Kaltoran). But words from other languges would also work as very few of these old Kingdoms were mono-racial and the world has a history of Corp/Palantor/Mechonid/Nephilim involvement.
• I need lots of city, town, village and fortress names for Fragged Seas. These will primarily be for the Tyvorsi Trade Guild (wealthy and beautiful location sounding names) and the Kestrelt Empire (holy, devine and latin sounding names).
• Location based names would also be cool, as they help to evoke a sense of environment.

If you provide feedback on any aspect of the books (rules, editing, graphic design, setting continuity, etc...) I will place your name in the credits.

Playtesting

Congratulations everyone, we did it! What an amazing month, especially those last few days :D

Playtesting will be done in 3 phases.

• 1) If you're SUPER keen to playtest one or more of these books please send me a private message letting me know what Sourcebooks you would like. This phase is open to all backers who have pledged for all 3 Sourcebooks and who already have the CRB (as I wont be sending that out).
• 2) This will be the primary playtesting phase. Once the BackerKit system is locked down I will send out early access Sourcebook and the Fragged Empire PDFs. This will allow everyone to join in on the playtesting.
• 3) The final playtest phase will take place once all of the books have been finished, but are yet to be edited or sent to the printers. This phase will be for polishing the books up.

Wow, what a full on 48 hours! We have just broken through 3 Financial Stretch Goals and are well on our way to breaking our last 2 Community Stretch Goals!

$70k, Improved Internal Art for Kingdom and Aeternum

All of FK and FA’s interior art will now be full colour!!

$75k, More Sample NPCs

All 3 books will now receive additional sample NPC entries!

$80k, Fragged Empire *Hacked*

I will now create a PDF booklet for Fragged Empire that will bring lots of the new ideas from these Sourcebooks back into FE, this book will act as a kind of Version 1.5 for Fragged Empire. Here is a short list of what I want to add to this PDF:

• Small Rule Tweaks to make things run smoother (ie: starting with 1 more Max Resources than your Current Resources, and many other small changes). • Tolatl and Half Blood Race entries.
• Holding rules. Found your own colony, space station or fortress!
• Mass Combat rules.
• Tweaked research and prototype rules.
• Optional Trade Good rules (ie: making Cash a Trade Good).
• Updated non-combat travel rules.
• And more…
